Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles...it may be a newly revamped show, with updated animation...and movies that follow. But, for us, it was a thing of our childhood. I will never forget the Raphael and Michaelangelo slippers my sister and I had.

The Loot pin is a detailed manhole cover, with the original logo. Totally epic.

Speaking of the heroes in a half shell, we also received tiny tiki mugs. When you collect them all...between all the Turtles and Shredder as an option...they stack to make your very own ceramic totem pole. We, in this box, acquired Leonardo.

There are times items in any box make us go "whoa"... this is one of those items...

A 1940's prop replica First Avenger Captain America Shield, with base and certificate of authenticity . This alone made the box. And, believe me when I say, that little treasure is actually heavy and well made. And comes with a certificate of authenticity.

We were watching AMC's Comic Book Men some time ago and they were stoked when they got an up close and personal view of an Action Comics #1, from June 1938, with the first appearance of the man who would eventually become Superman..though he didn't quite catch on at first, until 5years later when he debuted for what we now know as DC Comics.

Anyhow...back on track...we now own a reprint of this Action Comics #1, a wonderful replica, complete with original ads, printed on original newsprint stock (not the glossy stuff we know of today), and certificate of authenticity .

And this month's box folds into a Superman magazine holder!

Before he was "Super", the Italian plumber in red overalls was known as Jumpman. A Japanese creation that debuted as part of Donkey Kong in July, 1981...Mario has become an iconic figure, having since appeared in over 200 video games...as well as TV shows, movies, comic books, and countless items of merchandise . Nothing will quite beat that 8 bit architecture hat we have seen in Mario and other games.

In recent years he has gotten a bit of a makeover, an updated look. But the original will be forever cemented in history, and our childhood. An original since 1981.

Like I said, everything has an origin. The items in this box were definitely some of the best. Such a glorious trip down memory lane . Until next time, fellow geeks...
